We've been cursed with an overabundance of old 35mm carousel slides that have eaten up a lot of storage space. We were also "blessed" to be the treasurers of my wife's family slides. We had to reduce storage space and make copies for other family members. We tried the Walgreen conversion but it was expensive and the size was wrong. - The images were tiny on both the TV screen and the computer screen. I tried finding something at local electronics stores but what they asked for was to remove the film from the cardboard backing, too much work and very destructive. I figured I could just copy the image straight to my computer, and I did, but it's difficult. I bought an SD card that works much better. The SD card also allows you to process anywhere, you don't need to be near a computer, and the Wolverine is much smaller than a laptop, leaving plenty of room on the dining table for these types of projects. I used the color settings allowed on the device etc because I like Irfanview, a free download similar to Photoshop, only it loads faster and also allows you to edit and manipulate images. I think this is the hardest part of the project. will actually throw out the old slides and lug the carousel to the local thrift store. The second most difficult part is figuring out how to catalog a massive amount of old family slides so that the filing system actually allows someone to find something. The images on my flat screen seem very reasonable, as do the slides, but I don't have a projector anymore so I can't make a direct comparison. One of the added benefits is the joy I get from going through old slides and finding real gems. really nice tool and the price was very reasonable. Everything I needed was included except for an SD card and a Giottos blower to blow out the slides before they were sent through the Wolverine. Oh the slide holder that is part of Wolverine is very handy for holding the slides, four at a time, while I dust them off.
