If you buy, CHANGE.

So I read the reviews and was worried my fish and shrimp might get sucked in. But I figured it would be okay if I turn it on for a bit, take a look and turn it off after it's done its job. I was wrong. Even when the shrimp were out they knew how to get in and unfortunately I lost a few little fellas as a result. So I modified it with this and a tool to secure the top hole. That being said, I can keep it 24/7 now. I haven't had any problems with the suction cup as others have mentioned. But I have already bought magnets in case such a problem arises.
