Read other reviews about the too small base. Incandescent bulbs work well and give a nice warm glow. The glass bulbs are perfect for my tree. That's the problem. The green plastic base that holds the glass bulb doesn't match my tree or any of my garlands. You are too small. I need to remove the glass from the green base and insert it into the old green base of my Christmas tree lights. If the green plastic base of your tree/garland is damaged, you're out of luck. You can just buy glass bottles without the green bottom so I'm not sure that's a good buy.
