After a long search for the best starter motor for my 2003 F250 7.3 stroke diesel engine the original nippendenso made in Japan was the right choice. . The disadvantage of this option is that sellers claiming to sell original Denso have had prices ranging from 300.00 to 548.00. After reading the reviews of a copy of the DB Electric Denso, I decided to stop at this option. The starter arrived in good condition and looks well made. It took me about 15 minutes to remove the factory Visteon starter, which weighs about 10 pounds. The new starter weighs at least two and a half times as much. I highly recommend having another pair of hands when attempting to install the new starter to tighten the 2 mounting screws. My brother-in-law helped me hold it while I started tightening the bolts, which we had already cleaned and added red Loctite to the threads. My truck is 4WD with an automatic transmission and there were no ride height issues. The new starter motor was installed and the battery cable (which others have mentioned I had to straighten) was tightened in about 20 minutes. The only negative comment I can make about this starter is that the small wire is attached with a Phillips head screw as opposed to the threaded bolt and nut on the old starter. The wire connections are up when the new starter is in place and trying to tighten the small screw by feel alone is difficult to say the least. After reconnecting the negative terminals on both batteries, the moment of truth came and after firing the glow plugs twice, I couldn't believe how fast this 7.3 starter turns. The sound I've been missing for about two weeks is finally back. Only time will tell if I made the right decision to purchase a cheaper version, but so far I'm completely satisfied with this purchase. Update: The DB starter I bought still works almost two years later (knocks wood). Don't hesitate to buy again.
