Review on Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens for SLR Cameras - Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM by Kaito Itsuki ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent quality, absolutely not expected for such a price.

For a long, very long and painfully approached the purchase of this lens. I chose between it and Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F / 2.8, especially since the latest version of Tamron was equipped with a stabilizer. I tested it in stores, crawled through the forms, but in the end I chose Canon. Maybe the red stripe and the letter L worked in a certain way. According to subjective feelings, the native lens seemed to me better. It focuses faster, the angle is wider. They often write that they come out HA - I haven’t noticed yet, but if they come out, DPP\Photoshop heals. Plus - this is a good sight for the future if I go to full frame. You can evaluate the photos on my page in the album "About Hong Kong". I recommend to buy, you will not regret it!

Pros
  • The first L class lens I have purchased. The glass is great. Dust and moisture protection. internal focus. ultrasonic motor. Hood and case included. Wide angle even on crop.
Cons
  • Any professional optics requires an approach to yourself - you need to be clearly aware of why you are taking this glass. Outside, it works wonders. The landscapes are great. For indoors, if there are no other options (although the budget 50mm 1.8) and you feel like shooting something, it’s better to use it with a flash.
