I bought two 1.0m cables and they are perfect for running cables from my Areca 1882ix -12 The PCIe controller RAID in my 2010 Mac Pro, above the fan, up through the opening under the 5.25" drive bay, behind the back panel and in the same area where the original drive cables come out, and always is still long enough for 5 the .25" drive cage to slide in and out easily without having to disconnect cables, allowing connections to be made while the drive cage is pulled out for better access. To do this, you need to remove the 5.25-inch drive bay. Door assembly to facilitate access to the hole where the cables need to be routed. You must route the cable around one port cable at a time, but there is enough room for two of these cables and the original drive cable without having to close the drive bay cover after reinstallation. I marked the two cables A and B on both ends to keep them straight (you can't see the back so you can't trace the cables). I also bought two ICY DOCK 4 x 2.5" HDD/SSD. Bracket Attachment Kit adapters and installed them in the drive cage and now I can have 8 SSDs there, all connected to my RAID controller with SATA 3 (6 Gb/s) ports, as opposed to the original SATA 2 (3Gbps) ports on a Mac Pro. Of course, that means you don't have room inside for a 5.25" drive, but who still burns BD/DVD/CD and I only have one external BD/DVD/CD-R/W drive and plug it into my Mac Pro when needed. This layout still allows me to use the original four drive bays for to have more SSD/HD if I want that can be made to connect to original SATA + Power Drive connectors You will need to trim the plastic on the connector a bit to fit I have found that not all of these SATA power -Splitters are made the same I bought Cable Matters (2 pack) 15 pin SATA to 4 SATA power splitter extra cable, and no matter how hard I tried to cut the plastic, the power connector on the original drive connector has pins on both ends, and the pin is such that it snaps to the base of the connector so the connector doesn't go all the way in. I took off a star, the connector markings on the cables are in the wrong order. The SATA cable/connector labeled "P1" is actually a P4 connector, and the SATA cable/connector labeled "P2" is a P3 connector, etc. However, this can easily be remedied by using your own cable labels create. I'm not sure how CableCreation can label them backwards, or maybe there are two SATA port ordering standards for mini-SAS connectors.
