These abrasive sponges work great NEW condition, regardless of grit, on both wood and drywall. I did some very light wood sanding (a couple of boards) and then used them for 2 small sheets of drywall. They didn't rip or tear, but after washing they became very dull. It took me a lot of effort to use them afterwards and I ended up wrapping them with good quality sandpaper to finish the job. I would still consider buying these sponges for small projects as they are easy to hold and flex. ok around the edges if needed.
