The size is really huge. I have a queen size bed, box spring, pillow top mattress and thick memory foam topper, so it's quite difficult to find a comforter that even covers it to the chest, so go ahead and buy it I always have a king-size bed, and often they are small. The beautiful blankets are too short, and the blankets are very expensive and too short. I live in a modern climate and I like to change my bedding with the seasons, but as I need to find the right size I chose beige so I can easily match the duvet and pillow to the decor. It's very light and won't keep you warm here in the mountains, but works well as a layer in the cooler months. Definitely perfect for summer as we are offline and without air conditioning but gets chilly at night. It washed superbly when I used my washing machine's lock/duvet setting. I had to take it out of the dryer a few times to adjust until it was dry, but it was all quicker than a regular load of clothes. sideways! It's now flat on the sides, covering the box springs and dusting ruffles, and is incredibly long to cover the footboard and fold the pillows against the tree headboard - just like my grandma used to cover her bed with her chenille bedspread.
