At first I had no choice but to do this because I had a huge window on one of the walls so I had to move the TV to the nearest wall. Not a fan of the mechanism on the back of the TV. It's difficult to bet alone on a mount. In addition, the lateral paths rotate the rotating mechanism. It doesn't seem to stretch all the way down, so if you move it you could accidentally move it off center. But it's easy to go back. There is just one thing to note. But so far so good. The way my room is set up, my 55 inch device needed to be oriented in 3 directions at every point for ease of use on the computer or in bed. Hope that helps
