Review on πŸ“· Garmin BC 40 Wireless Backup Camera - Enhanced Compatibility with Garmin Navigators - Black by Pressure Cook

Easy to install, easy to use - with some caveats

Pro - ABSOLUTELY easy to install with no fuss. Installing the BC-40 is as easy as it gets. BK-30 (wired) BK is a lot of work (milling, drilling, etc.) and if you don't know what you're doing with the electrical connections you'll probably at least burn out your fitting. Alternatively, you can power the BC-30 from a direct socket on your vehicle, but this somewhat defeats the purpose of a rear-view camera. Cons - If you're looking for a backup camera that works like pre-installed backup cameras, the BC-40 isn't the one. This is a rear camera, but not the one that activates when you put it in reverse. You must manually start the view on your GPS. By the way, this is no different from the BC-30, if you turn on the camera only from the outlet, and not from the reversing lights. I installed the BC-30 in my car and one of the features of the camera is that it only activates when the car is reversing. Not so with the BC-40. Bottom line - if you need a rear view camera and want to skip the hassle of installing it, the BC-40 ticks the box if you want to enable the view on your GPS. If you want the reversing camera to activate only when reversing, buy the BC-30 and connect it to your car's reversing lights.
