Review on Enhanced Performance Carbon Monoxide Detector by Kidde with Battery Backup, Digital Display, LED Lights, and CO Alarm by Eric Montgomery

I bought a carbon monoxide detector of this model in February 2017 and in December 2017 it started beeping one of the nights. I jumped out of bed, assuming I was at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, but it just blinked 888 and beeped erratically. I suspected a problem with the battery, so I replaced the batteries and hung the unit back on the wall. A day or two later it started squeaking again at night. Now I was very concerned that I had a carbon monoxide problem, but then again - it just flashed 888 and beeped a bit randomly. I've researched online, blown through with compressed air, did a "reset", etc. It always showed 0ppm CO. I checked the peak every time it beeped and it also always peaked at 0ppm CO. . With fresh batteries, cleaned well and reset it lasted about 2 weeks before randomly beeping again last night. Now I plan to throw it away and buy another brand. Very disappointed. I'm tired of my family waking up in the middle of the night fearing for their lives because of this broken device.
