I bought the 50 watt version to keep our outdoor cats warm in the winter. I live in the Midwest and it gets cold at night. We have 2 outdoor cats and I wanted to give them a home that is a little warm but not hot or flammable. I built a cat house from leftovers and insulated it. I used foil insulation inside and hung a brooder lamp on top. They usually come with bright lights and very warm bulbs, but I didn't want that. I wanted LITTLE heat, NO light, low power consumption and LOW fire risk. This 50W bulb meets all the requirements. The cat house is warm even at night at a temperature of 10 degrees. I use this with a thermostat controlled socket which I also bought from Revain. It "activates" or emits energy when it falls below 35 degrees and deactivates or "turns off" when it reaches 45 degrees. Therefore, this bulb will not light up when the temperature is warm enough.
