For people who keep losing cords (like me) these things are a great idea. The small writing surface is big enough to write about 12 characters with a fine Sharpie marker, and if you don't have one of these I highly recommend getting one. The interface doesn't seem to work well with a ballpoint pen, pencils, or regular markers. And anything wrong becomes an unreadable drop of ink. There's nothing special about them, but they'll get the job done. unless you have cables or cables that don't end up with a large enough adapter. With things like narrow speaker wire, they're likely to slip off the moment you unplug your stereo. For those who are curious as to why this is happening, the reason can be seen in the product image that Revain posts with your order when you purchase the item (as of December 2013). The tag (made of relatively rigid plastic) is placed between the locking mechanism (female) and the flexible band (male). This keeps the flexible band from clinging to thin wires, which isn't a problem as long as something is big enough on the ends to prevent slipping. To be fair, this is the only time the zip ties don't seem to work well, and they're not actually advertised as speaker labels or labels of any kind. I removed the asterisk because although the maximum beam diameter was listed, the minimum diameter was not listed - which is certainly the case - as the design prevents effective narrowing below about 0.2 inches. But these things are very good for the price. I would buy them again.
