I love that this material is nitrous free and the clean burn brings out the true flavor of my resins and herbs. A little tricky to light, but not too bad if you can learn to hold an edge over the flame until it starts to glow. I hold it over a candle flame with metal tongs. It usually only takes about a minute for an edge to glow strong enough to fit in my cauldron. I have used it on sand and rice ash. I highly recommend forming a small mesa in the center of your heatproof container with sand, ash, or rocks and then laying a tongue over it. It burns cleanly and thoroughly. I just want it to burn longer. I can't imagine how fast the little bamboo charcoals (in the red box) burn through. I feel like the extra effort required to ignite it should allow me to burn off more than a few rounds of my resin before I'm done. Also, since it's completely flat, there's nothing to hold the resin or herbs on the small surface. I prefer to burn large amounts over a longer period of time. It's good if I only have about fifteen minutes to meditate or think. I still use large charcoal tablets when meditating regularly or when I want to burn more tar for a longer period of time. I will probably buy this again if no one comes up with a better design for the bamboo inlays. I like the concept but the app is a bit disappointing.
