The slow cooker has sat for 6 weeks. Until it suddenly stopped working. No fading/fading, only worked one day and not the next. While the light is still on and the timer continues to count down (for high or low temperature) and up (for heat), the heating element has completely stopped working. I mean, look, I know things are built to break, so we have to buy new things, but seriously? We have been using it for less than 2 months and it no longer works. Interestingly, a while ago I was gifted a used model of the same make and model and ended up having to get rid of it because the heating element wasn't working. sketchy. I would say spend your money elsewhere. Update: I have posted information about my slow cooker not working on hamiltonbeach.com as the unit is still under warranty. However, the message I got back was that I have to pay $12 shipping to get a replacement (and they try to convince you it's a lot because they're so nice without you having to prompted that I sent my broken one on time). and instead cut the power cord off the old one and send a photo to prove I'm not fooling them). I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet, but it seems a bit odd to be paying 1/3 the price for a new version of the same crappy slow cooker that might only last a few months (long enough to get past the return windows and might have to pay another $12 then?). I strongly recommend not buying this or any other Hamilton beach. Products.
