Review on 24 Inch Clear Franklin Brass Replacement Towel Bar, Bathroom Accessories, Bathroom Towel Holder, Model 662318 by Robert Castro

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The description is wrong but the bottom line is 5* for me

The description is very confusing and based on the reviews I've read I guess you're lucky. The molding is clearly made of transparent plastic; perhaps the mold in which it was cast was zinc. Measurements are just wrong. The text states that the section is 0.8 x 0.8 inches and the dimensions in the chart are 0.63 x 0.63 inches. Based on my caliper it's almost exactly 0.75 inches, which luckily is what I need. Some reviews describe it as fragile and flexible. What I received is a heavy gauge square tubing - quite strong and stiff, much better than the original. .To take measurements, place one end in a holder and push it all the way in, fully compressing the spring, then mark a cutting line where it touches the edge of the other holder. One reviewer suggests that 1/8 inch shorter is fine, but you can get by with half that amount. You can cut it with any hand saw with a thin blade, such as B. a hacksaw, miter saw, coping saw or Japanese razor saw. If you're using a chainsaw, you'll need a fine-toothed blade for a slow cutter like a jigsaw. In my case, I pride myself on clean cuts even when you can't see them, so I wrapped masking tape around the cut line to prevent chipping, placed it on a sled, and used a 40 tooth plywood/laminate blade on one table saw. . It turned out perfectly square and smooth. As soon as I stepped into the shower, it only took me 3-5 seconds to install. The old one was yellowed and brittle but has held up since I moved here 35 years ago. It ended up breaking when hit hard while I was remodeling it. This one doesn't break!
