Review on ๐Ÿ“ท Sigma 1.4x EX DG Teleconverter for Nikon Mount Lenses - APO by Marcus Loeffler

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Clear sharp focus, support link and auto focus with Sigma 105mm DG EX HSM lens.

I'm new to photography but have spent an hour or so taking nearly four hundred macro shots at the local college conservatory; everything from hydrangeas to begonias and orchids to succulents. It really extends the range of my Sigma 105mm DG EX HSM macro lens (doesn't work with my 24-70mm DG EX HSM lens which isn't physically attached). This increases the magnification (1.4:1) but also slightly increases the minimum focal length, which can be nice as it allows you to keep a little more distance between you and your subject. Depth of field is extremely shallow in the macro range, but opens up again when you're a foot or more from the subject. Focus is still sharp at long distances and you can still maintain a large depth of field. It's definitely harder to maintain stability at close range, handheld can be very difficult near minimum focal length. There are many macro focus guide options available on the Revain, but I think a basic monopod will suffice as certain shots are easier to manually focus and rock back and forth slightly to get the correct plane of focus.
