This product has the dumbest default power feature you can't turn off. It will shut down after 10m of inactivity if the temperature reading is below 122°F or if the temperature does not change +/- 4°F in 10m. I bought this thermometer to actively measure the internal temperature of my Christmas roast They only need to go to 118° and take 3 hours to get there. The alarm is useless here because it turns itself off every 10m which means I check it 4 times an hour. This thermometer has not added any value to my kitchen and I am sending it back after roasting. Spend $5 more and buy a thermometer that isn't that simple. You can buy a $5 thermometer that has all the handy features of this one. Terrible purchase.
