Great as a white noise generator and humidifier in one.

My 6 month old had a permanent crust on his nose after we moved to Boston. I figured a humidifier in his room might help. I did a lot of research on humidifier types before deciding on a filtered evaporative humidifier. We wanted something safe, effective and low maintenance. When I was 2 years old I burned my cheek with a warm steam humidifier so that option was out of the question. Don't let history repeat itself with my child. I also vented cool steam dispersing water using ultrasonic technology as it can cause condensation on nearby surfaces due to the oversaturation of water in the air. It also releases minerals that may be present in water, also known as "white dust," which can settle on furniture. If I wanted to avoid white dust, I'd have to get distilled water for it (I definitely don't lug gallons of distilled water around my apartment just for my humidifier). So I opted for the vaporizer. I love this humidifier for several reasons. PROS: - no white dust - no burns - doesn't oversaturate the air (because water won't evaporate if there's already too much of it in the air) - fan noise is actually a big bonus for us. Saves us the hassle of buying a humidifier AND a white noise generator (fan units can be quite expensive) for a kid's room. A large fan is just what it needs for white noise. This particular model is easy to clean in my opinion. - That's easy. There's a knob with off-low-high settings, and THAT'S ALL. And that's all I want. CONS: You really need to replace the filter. I buy branded lots so they're relatively cheap ($6 for a filter) but I probably change them about once a month. These are maintenance costs that other humidifiers don't have (unless you buy distilled water for them). You still have to clean it. I wipe it down inside and out with a Clorox cloth about once a week and do a deep cleaning when I change the filter. It seems to help. In general we like it. The crust on my son's nose is gone and I always feel good when I go into his room. I never felt like I walked into a nasty rainforest or arid desert (unless I forgot to fill up the water tank). Worth the money if you ask me!
