I bought the internal 4 port version. I bought this because I literally fell and cracked my head trying to plug something into the USB 3.0 port on the back of my computer. I didn't have an internal 19-pin USB 3.0 port, but the included USB 3.0 cable was long enough to run through my computer through a convenient hole on the back and connect it to a port on the back. Mine came with both SATA and Molex power connectors (the manual says you use one or the other - using both at the same time will cause "system damage") as well as a Molex extension cable which I used because you both carry data connect and power cords before installing the concentrator. Like some other reviewers, I initially found that only version 3.0 devices would work with this hub. 2.0 devices were powered but never recognized as devices. Device Manager (Windows 7) showed a 3.0 hub as well as a 2.0 hub that wasn't working properly, had no drivers, was an unknown device that didn't need drivers, and a few other things that changed all the time I restarted. Solution. I downloaded the latest drivers for the USB 3.0 host controller on the motherboard (Etron USB 3.0 Driver and Software Suite v0.0.0119 WHQL). Never install drivers from Windows Update under Advanced system properties, Hardware, Device installation options. In Device Manager I removed the host controller, USB3 hub (this device) and numerous unknown device entries (also this device). Software setup started. Make sure the USB 3.0 ports on the motherboard are working again. connected to this device. Drivers for USB2 and USB3 hubs are loaded. The device now works with USB 2.0 sticks (I just have to check now). Shown as "Etron USB2 (HS) Hub" and "Etron USB3 (SS) Hub" where previously only USB3 was shown. Once everything works, you can restore the device installation settings to the previous state.
