I installed 1TB Samsung 970 EVO M.2 with this Rivo PCIe x4 adapter card on ASUS P9X79 3.2GHz motherboard with i7 3930K processor and it worked great (SYX -Machine approx. 2013). No additional cables are required, just install the card on the board and plug it into an empty PCIe slot. The card is PCIe x4, but you can use a PCIe x4, x8 or x16 slot. I used x16 because I didn't have x4. It's pretty easy. First, insert the gold-plated screw into the back of the adapter and secure with the gold-plated nut. The nut acts as a plug to allow airflow under the M.2 card. Remember to insert the M.2 into the pins on the card at an angle, then press against the stand and secure with the carbon screw. Install the card in the PCIe slot and the hardware installation is complete. I can read/write about 450-480MB/s from this drive to a 2TB Samsung V NAND 860 QVO internal SATA drive that I use for backup. Pretty impressive for this old car.
