I've had several of these over the years and really like them. I found them to be solidly built and very reliable. The last one has worked flawlessly for me in continuous use in my restaurant for over 15 years. For the first 10 years it served as a pump to remove condensate from my air conditioner and for the last 5 years it has been pumping melted ice water from my ice machine's ice bin into a drain line that was slightly higher than the ground than the bin's ice drain hole . . I bought this new replacement unit, hooked it up and can only hope that it will give me the same service as the previous one. Does something really last 15 years? We'll just have to wait and see how this little guy behaves. BTW, I'm an "old school" thinker and never throw away anything that can be fixed, so I tore this old little giant apart. to find out which part failed me. It turned out that the float microswitch (a tiny contact switch no larger than half the size of a postage stamp) had simply failed. As the float rises to the top of the tank with the water level, the circuit in the microswitch closes, allowing current to flow to the pump motor, which turns it on and drains the tank. The only problem was that the tiny copper contact points were corroded and when I tried to clean them they broke in half. So I ordered a replacement part ($15 with shipping), plugged it in (15 seconds) and it worked right away. I dare say this little one is ready to serve another 15 years so I cleaned it up and put it in the empty box my new one came from. Here it is on the shelf. Waiting for the day when it will be operational again. YES SIR. I'm a fan.
