Review on Auxbeam Headlights Headlight Conversion Bridgelux by Ivan Carson

Replaced H7 and 9005 Halogen in a 2005 Subaru. Excellent value for money.

This is my first experience with LED headlights. And wow what a wild west scene this is. But let's not go there. My son has been using the VoRock8 in his Honda for about two years. Almost bought these. But a little more research led me to AuxBeam. They're basically well-reviewed all over the internet. But what appealed to me is that they are specifically tailored to their installation. (For example, the 9005 has a plug that plugs straight into a car outlet. The wild west scene is such that most people just sell devices with a bunch of loose cords to sort through). They were also compact enough - thanks to the use of a fan instead of a large heatsink - to fit in the space I had available. The Subaru's battery sits just behind the headlights on one side. And - and this is the main thing - they do not cost much more than replacing incandescent lamps with halogen lamps. Of course, this is the F-S2 series. If they are ok and need to be replaced one day, I can choose the F16 series next time. Anyway, they came very well packaged. We installed all four lamps in less than 10 minutes. I love the extra coverage. I love the extra brightness. I love that they do all of this without me getting high beams from oncoming cars. And I really like it when the road is lit with white light. (I think the AuxBeams are 6500 Kelvin.) They flicker for about two seconds when I first turn them on, but stabilize almost immediately. Also, English is definitely not the manufacturer's native language. But it was pretty easy for us to understand what they were trying to say. Excellent value for money and quality. A footnote: with the H7, the only blip was that a low beam worked; the other not. It turned out that as with the Honda, the two pins had to be swapped opposite the halogen circuit. (Current only flows one way through the diode.) I accidentally swapped the leads. My son, who is a mechanic, is not. Once we figured that out, everything worked beautifully.
