This is a great little lunch box and my daughter loves it but I would recommend hand washing. Although it says it's dishwasher safe it was very difficult to put it back on once I put it in the dishwasher. I can't understand why. Something went wrong. A rubber seal also runs along the lower edge of the white flat insert. This pad partially came out of the dishwasher but no food was spilled so that's a good thing. I ordered a second one and just want to hand wash it. I want there to be rectangular inserts at the top, as well as curved ones. My daughter doesn't really like sauces so I forego the medium round container and two sections to fit a tiny ice pack on one side. Those tiny curved sections don't leave much room for groceries. I could only fit four cucumber slices in one. But the bottom is pretty deep, and you can put a pretty big sandwich under it. However, it is not large enough for a toothpick to stand upright. So if you want to use toothpicks to hold the sandwich together, insert them sideways or not at all. I can't fit a regular sized ice pack in either. It would be nice if there was another level where you could put dishes and a napkin or even an ice pack. Or maybe if the extra layer was actually an ice pack.
