Like others I researched it to see if it was necessary and there was pretty strong evidence that in turbocharged direct injection engines like this pressurized blow-by causes extra deposits caused by the valves. My Ranger only has 3,000 miles so I wanted to add this as a preventive measure. I probably have more experience with cars but not with these new engines (not a mechanic but not afraid to take things apart to some degree). Well, I've looked at cheaper versions of tackle boxes, but once you put this one on you'll find that the lack of space and the way these snap-on hoses are constructed makes fitting them very easy (relatively speaking). that no matter what solution you use, the motor design just doesn't have much handroom in that area). If I had to use a regular hose clamp to attach these knots to the standard "bobs" I wouldn't have enough room to have enough leverage to tighten them - unless you put the hose there in a 90- degree angles, put it on So put it on, the 'pdf' and the video is pretty convincing on how to do it - it just takes some time to get a sense of where everything is (nearly impossible to see things - the standard parts are black. ). You have to take the tire out and jack up the car to do this as you have to use both hands to pull out the stock hose and you can't do that if the tire is in the way (a finger to hold the clamp open and the other to pull the hose). Once I found that removing the hose was easier, it took me a bit of maneuvering around the front axle assembly to find the correct position. It was a lot harder to remove the stock hose than to put the new hoses back on - just be careful as the 'bobs' that the hoses attach to are plastic. Otherwise just follow the instructions and be patient (especially if you have big hands like me) and it will work. I found the materials, hoses and clamps to be of good quality and a good fit - there were no issues when the hose was properly attached to the underside of the motor. I'm not afraid that it will fall or not last long.
