Recommended. I made a backup from Mac to PC. You need to install a small driver (preinstalled on a portable drive) to copy from this drive on a Mac (not required for PC). Copy gigs from photos. Drive speed was more than adequate and quiet. The case is attractive and light. A potential downside is that the included drive cable is NOT a standard USB connection to the drive (USB data and power appear to be disconnected when connected to the drive). This means if you lose the included cable (or it fails) it can be almost impossible to get a replacement (and therefore your data could be lost). Attached photo of the connector for the drive.
