Initial bugs, but they fixed themselves.

I bought this because my laptop has an SSD with just over 100GB of disk space. I use this to store games, school files and work files. For the first few weeks it randomly turned off like I had unplugged it and plugged it back in. When this happens I'm usually playing The Elder Scrolls Online or Guild Wars 2 so I get logged out and have to log back in again and again. But he hasn't done that since the first two weeks, so I think he's fine now. It's as quiet as any other spinning hard drive. I…

I did a lot of shopping before deciding on this product. I needed a backup for my photos and music and this one is perfect. My mother has several of these and they have all served her for a long time. I was able to drag files here from my Windows computer and move them to my Mac. Yes, it is compatible with both! Note: If I'm connected to my Mac, I haven't yet installed the Mac drivers that came with the product. As a result, I couldn't change any of the files on the portable drive. However, I…

The best external USB 2.0/3.0 drive on the market!

Toshiba isn't always my favorite brand. I consider her mediocre. However, with the external Canvio series, my personal experience made me take a closer look at this device. First, I've worked with and owned many brands of external drives, including plug-in models. Technically, my standalone models have 7200rpm hard drives from leading OEMs. And that's why these devices need to transfer data faster than Canvio's 5200 RPM. But this was not the case. Not only were the Canvio series devices faster…

No problem: computers and accessories

Received yesterday and used immediately without any problems. I transferred about 200GB from my Windows 7 laptop and the transfer speed was just over 1.1GB per minute. Not sure if that speed is considered fast or not. I also transferred 150GB of data from my second Vista laptop and the transfer speed was a bit slower at <0.9GB per minute. Both are connected via USB 2.0 ports. During 6 hours of continuous use, this little machine made no sound - it just ran flawlessly. One more thing: It's a…

Ideal for Mac and/or PC

Recommended. I made a backup from Mac to PC. You need to install a small driver (preinstalled on a portable drive) to copy from this drive on a Mac (not required for PC). Copy gigs from photos. Drive speed was more than adequate and quiet. The case is attractive and light. A potential downside is that the included drive cable is NOT a standard USB connection to the drive (USB data and power appear to be disconnected when connected to the drive). This means if you lose the included cable (or it…

I have only positive things to say about this hard drive. Excellent transfer speeds with USB 3.0, one of the cheapest external hard drives with the opposite quality. 2 year warranty instead of the 1 year warranty you would get from others. I've been streaming movies of this to my Roku 2 box via Plex for hours and the HD doesn't seem to be heating up at all. Right out of the box I downloaded 300GB of video to it and again it didn't seem to get warm at all. Again, I can't say anything bad about…
