The principle of operation is simple. With a good fuse, the voltage drop between the two ends of the fuse is usually negligible. However, when the fuse blows, there is a large voltage drop that causes current to flow through the LED and causes the fuse to glow, making it easier to identify and replace. I am planning to replace all the fuses (up to 30 amps) in my car. I had previously considered the same fuses using MINI blades instead of STANDARD blades and subsequently realized that I needed standard blades. These fuses have a well marked resistance and replacing old (non-lit) fuses should be easy.
