Very strong canvas. I live in a remote rural area of Alaska where the sun shines 24 hours a day from mid-May to mid-August and temperatures can reach 80-90 degrees. I live at the foot of some mountains and the wind can sometimes blow in the 30-40 mph range and test the integrity of the tarpaulin. Constant sun takes its toll on tarps too, and those cheaper blue plastic tarps barely last a summer between wind and sun. I bit the bullet and bought one of these tarpaulins and am very satisfied with the high quality. The first one I bought about 4 years ago is still in use and starting to wear out although not leaking yet so I decided to buy another one. When I bought the first one a year ago it was $40 with free shipping. Now it costs $64 with free shipping. Well, nothing good lasts forever. Highly recommended. (PS-If you're accommodating and don't mind the extra cost, I recommend buying a grommet kit and adding as many grommets as you like. In some cases, it almost can't be too much.)
