Strong as a bull! - Tarpaulin

Got these in place of a custom/standard boat cover. With the help of a bungee I put it on the boat for the winter (with a homemade wooden roof). Unfortunately I messed up one of the bungees and the tarp warped into a boat and filled with water that was frozen at -10 degrees. I had to use a sledgehammer to break the ice and knock him off the tarp. And the tarpaulin wasn't hurt at all. Great tarp! Hooray!

Pros
  • A Dream Come True
Cons
  • Unbelievable Price

Does not fit Canopy 10X20 frame.

Very good durable tarpaulin. However, if you have a Canopy 10x20 frame (base size) like ours, it will NOT fit. It's 3-4 inches wider so it forms water pockets when it rains. We tried a 10x20 tarp and found it too narrow by the same 3-4 inches. I would like to add that the dimensions of the item are accurate, however the 12 x 20 tarp (top dimensions) DOES NOT APPLY TO the 12 x 20 frame (base dimensions).

  • Very good price

Don't buy if it's in the sun

At first I was happy with the weight and design, but then I realized that it sets unevenly in the sun! I don't live in Arizona, and where I live, temperatures rarely get above 80 degrees, but look what happened to the tarp as it rolled up in my driveway. (see photo) It wrinkled along the folded edge, thickened and bunched up. I can't imagine what would happen in a hotter climate.

4 years old and holding up great!

I ordered this awning from Revain on 13th November 2015 and since then it has been used as a portable carport during inclement weather. I had to take it off today in preparation for Hurricane Dorian so it wouldn't float away. I was surprised how well it holds up. There is no fabric tear and no corrosion on the grommets, just a little bit of dust. It folds up easily and now I have it safely stowed away. I can only recommend this tarpaulin!

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • No automatic controls

Three years of use in the Colorado sun

This tarp was draped over a storage rack in my Denver backyard. The sun shines every day here (Denver gets about 300 days of sunshine a year, and we're the closest to that sun). Despite the change of season and lots of rain and snowstorms, things went on well. I bought my last one in January 2017; It finally failed in March 2020, tearing at the center seam as others have pointed out. Three years of service is far better than any other tarp I've used on this rack in the last two decades. Very…

Heavy duty but wrong size.

Actual dimensions: 11'6" x 19'6". The packaging incorrectly states that the finished dimensions are 12' x 20'. Although this tarp is too small, I was able to use it as a replacement canopy for my 10" x 20" ShelterLogic canopy that was beginning to crack after 2 years of exposure to the sun. , wind and snow (manufacturer says it's not designed for long-term outdoor use, so no complaints). Granted this tarp doesn't have the SL canopy liner so water from the roof will roll inwards down the eaves a

Durable tarpaulin fits tarpaulins

Mine covered the boat for 3 months when not used in summer. My boat was protected from bad weather, rain and sunshine with this tarpaulin. This is the thickest I've found so far. It's a bit worn, mostly faded, but has held up well in the scorching Virginia sun. Using bungee cords to tie it to the boot, a pair of grommets buckled under the intense pressure of the bungee. All in all a better tarp than any I have used over the years. Please remember these are plastic tarps and will wear down with…

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Very strong canvas. I live in a remote rural area of Alaska where the sun shines 24 hours a day from mid-May to mid-August and temperatures can reach 80-90 degrees. I live at the foot of some mountains and the wind can sometimes blow in the 30-40 mph range and test the integrity of the tarpaulin. Constant sun takes its toll on tarps too, and those cheaper blue plastic tarps barely last a summer between wind and sun. I bit the bullet and bought one of these tarpaulins and am very satisfied with…

I hope you find this information useful! UPDATED 2018

I'll be brief. I purchased this tarp from Revain on September 11, 2011 and used it as a canopy cover. He observed the extreme weather conditions of the deep south without interruption for 3 years and 7 months. Only yesterday (04/26/2015) it finally gave up after a very windy hailstorm and broke in two halves. I immediately ordered another one as a replacement. I didn't have any upholstery issues as other reviews have reported. Considering the cost which is $17.76 per year of use. I hope you…
