(UPDATED WITH REPAIR INFO!) Broken, warranty not worth the paper written on

I love this chair. That's convenient. Good for a big, big guy. A little less than two years have passed. Then one of the wheel mounts broke off. Because the base of the star on these chairs is very often a truncated corner, and the rings are simply welded on with staples. In this case it's bad. That's the problem. The gas cylinder in this chair is not a standard size. More broadly, this means I can't just swap out the chair base with one of the many great replacement options. Literally only one starbase was needed. There are no dice. A five-year warranty clearly doesn't make sense for them. Took it to a welder and there's really no way to reliably fix it (and the rest can't be "backed up"). I'll see if there's a replaceable baseplate. it will match; This would allow me to use a regular sized cylinder and base. Overall this is a hard wearing chair that broke after 22 months due to cut edges. The OEM chose to use non-standard parts that I can't get elsewhere and now refuse to replace them. Warning against tempters. Cylinder, base and base are not standard, but *inclined base* CAN BE REPLACED WITH STANDARD. After taking it apart to throw away I decided to measure this thing. And now the non-standard base plate with tilt adjuster has a STANDARD HOLE PATTERN. 6" W x 10.2" D, with holes on back spaced 2.5" apart. Many replacement parts with this hole pattern. Solid aluminum base, heavy-duty pistons, and your best choice of wheels for floor type (or replace just the standard casters to save some money.) Depending on your weight and height, this could go for $50, or if you opt for extra heavy chair parts like I currently do, maybe around $130, whatever is far less than the cost of throwing that thing away and replacing it, and the result is something more powerful.
