When the float rises the water shuts off so they work in that regard. The fittings are probably the worst I have ever used. The thread did not match my standard hose end. So my garden hose never reached the rubber washer to make the seal. There is no spin. This is how you end up twisting your hose. I had to buy tube lube to keep them from leaking. Ps, it took a lot of cane dope. After a month of use, the water is still holding. I used them to automate water for my animals. Found both in a plastic bag and in a drinker made of a PVC pipe.
