Bought these for my son's Mercury Mountaineer 05 who had a broken key and separate key fob. The fobs came and instead of just swapping them out I decided to use a combo key/fob with chip as they were basically the same price. The programming guide, available through the website link included in the package, was quick and easy. From cutting the keys to receiving the keys and programming the remote took less than 10 minutes. Not all places can cut these keys. Most hardware stores I worked at wouldn't touch them for fear they would go bad. I contacted a local locksmith who was more than happy to cut the keys for $6.50 each. They were willing to cut and program them for $45 each, but having read the instructions and feeling reasonably confident that I could do it myself, I gave up on that part. Be sure to read the user manual as you may need both OEM keys to program these keys. If you lose your key, you may have to call a locksmith or even a dealer to program it for a significant fee. *** Please note that these are 3 button remote controls and our remote controls were 4 button remotes with rear window unlocking. Since we never use that button on the remote, I was perfectly fine with losing that feature. All other buttons work great and now we can take a key with us instead of key and remote.
