I love Lowrance products. However, this product has a serious limitation that makes it almost useless for me. We all know that one of the great benefits of Lowrance products is the ability to create and share C-Map Genesis live contour maps. This block does just that. No problem. I've spoken to three different Lowrance representatives and it appears that this device is unable to download Genesis Live data created by other Lowrance users. For those who buy this device, this means that you cannot go to the C-Map Genesis website and download Genesis Live maps made by other users and load them into the device. This seems like complete madness to me as the device is capable of creating and reading EXACTLY THE SAME FILE TYPES (via the Genesis Live Overlay option) when creating a Genesis Live contour map. In short, the device can create and read Genesis Live map data, but cannot download and read the exact same data created by other users. What does that mean for you? Suppose you want to go to a water near you that is already mapped in Genesis Live. Although your device can create such maps and read the data it creates, it cannot download maps created by other users to your device. Infinitely stupid. It seems to me that this is an extremely short-sighted feature exception on the part of Lowrance. Let me repeat; The device can create and read the same files required to create Genesis Live data, but it cannot read/download the exact same file types created by other users. This means that you as a user cannot download Genesis Live data to your display device while in water charted by other users. That's stupid, for lack of a better word. If you just want to tag fish with a sonar/bottom/side scan then this is the device for you. However, if you want to use the device for Genesis Live overlays made by other users, which the device appears to be capable of, you're out of luck. If you need this functionality, don't buy the Hook Reveal X Series.
