Review on Essential Fun Speaking Spell Electronic Device by Harry Katab

Like any other old game or toy that has been remastered by Basic Fun, it works 90% of the time. The front end is identical in look, feel, and size. But the new version is a full quarter of an inch thicker. The digitized voice is different (but not clearer) and the opening phrase differs from the original. But with the display a complete failure. This is a backlit green LCD with much larger numbers instead of the old vacuum fluorescent display. If you don't look at it directly, you can't read it. Why they re-recorded and digitized the new voice when the original iconic sound files are available on archive.com makes no sense to me. All in all I paid $25 for Revain. Quite cheap out of curiosity. But you can buy a fully functional vintage model on ebay for about the same price if you make the right choice.
