So far so good: Ignition Parts

Good This coil arrived quickly, well packaged and whole. There is an insert that warns of misaligned boot springs, but I checked and it was fine. It fits perfectly and along with the new Champion connectors solved my P305 misfire code on rough work. I want to share the installation caveat that others have commented. The Chrysler/Jeep electrical connector is the hardest part of the job, but once you know what to do it becomes a lot easier. There is a small red slide tab that secures the connector to the coil. The problem is that the firewall is pointing away from you. Try this method: Remove the 13mm screws from the spool and it "pops" right out of the connectors with little suction noise. Remove the dipstick and pull the throttle cables out of their slots. Rotate the spool until you see a red tab. I used a mirror and a flashlight to get a better view. There are similar connectors in the engine bay so you can see how it works. Grab your left hand and you can push and/or pull the connector to the unlocked position. You will feel a slight click and there is a small lip on the pull end to distinguish it from the push end. You are not done yet. At the bottom of the connector where the wire harness is assembled/connected there is an additional built in tab built into the connector body (mine was hidden under the fold of the wires). You'll need to feel for it and press down firmly on it with your thumb while unplugging it. It took me an hour to find this error and none of the YouTube videos or various threads about it have come close to describing where it is. They even provided misleading information that it's under the red thing (it's not), or that the red thing is slipping and then tipping over (it's not). Once you know it's not a problem. Much luck!

Pros
  • OEM quality, fit and finish (not a genuine OEM part). This ignition coil is specially designed for Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, TJ
Cons
  • A bit of variety
