I have had multiple skin pen sessions on my face at a dermatologist's office. I bought this because I moved to a new town and haven't been able to find a new place that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for this service, or that requires you to be a derm client first which I have no reason to go at the moment. I will say that having been through professional sessions before, I knew what to expect with the aftermath. I have used twice each the 12-needle and the 36-needle, the former for my décolletage which has not had any professional sessions, and the latter for my face. I read the instructions, other reviews, watched YouTube tutorials, etc., and bought the necessarily numbing/sanitizing accoutrements to ensure I was following protocol. I'm not claiming I do as well a job as a professionally-trained esthetician, but the videos help immensely.The 12-needle applications resulted in redness for 5-7 days. The 36 needle for 2-4 days. Both sessions I waiting 4 weeks apart to allow for the collagen to build to its fullest before repeating. I have seen a slight improvement after one session in my chest skin; at the writing of this review, it is too soon after the second session to see results.Having this pen of my own has been helpful for me to be able to do the applications on the weekend when I can take my time, do it at my own convenience, and allow the skin to heal some before returning to work. The best part is that it is saving me hundreds of dollars! :)
