The M1 Macbook Air natively only supports one external display, but this adapter allows me to use two (one connected to USB-C, one connected to this DisplayLink adapter ). The software works quite well, the monitors remember where they are etc. Aside from the one-time installation of the software, which was easy, this thing is totally plug and play. I actually had an issue initially where the DisplayLink monitor refused to wake up after going to sleep even if I unplugged it and turned it back on - HDMI and/or USB ports connected, but turns out I have a I used a bad HDMI cable. I tried another HDMI cable and now it works great.
