First, it works. I have two monitors open while my M1 Air is closed on desktop. Yes, you need additional hardware for this: I have an OWC hub. The M1 Macbook Air natively only supports one external display, but this adapter allows me to use two (one connected to USB-C, one connected to this DisplayLink adapter ). Use it with MacBook Pro 13 M1 with display mate software driver on Big Sur 11.1 and 11.2 with two external 4K 32-inch BENQ monitors, but there are many annoyances.
