Review on πŸ” Enhancing Engine Performance: Leimo Cylinder Compression Leakdown Diagnostics by Jason Hutchinson

FAIL - Unusable diagnostic tool.

I read the reviews and actually bought this kit for parts from an old leak detector that needed repairs. I ended up just using part of the hose as a backup, a 0-100 psi gauge and two rubber cups that match the gauges. I did not use the regulator and bought a higher quality device. The instructions said a maximum inlet pressure of 100psi, but I later saw that the regulator spec (marked on the regulator) had an inlet pressure of 140psi and that would probably be fine. The main problem with the kit is that it cannot be used as a diagnostic tool. A two gauge leak tester must have a margin (typically 0.040 inch) between the inlet pressure and the working pressure used to pressurize the engine. The kit should also be able to operate at 100psi for most leak tests. You can use a lower pressure if the piston doesn't stay at top dead center on the compression stroke. This kit didn't have either, and my second gauge was only 27psi at the set point. Also, one of my adapters had metal shavings. and all the threaded parts on the assembly were poorly made. If you need a leak tester, either rent one or go as low as $100 for a test kit that works on demand.
