I have used this Freud bit on oak and pine and it has been very satisfactory. I made two passes in oak so as not to overload the router, but the router ate everything. For pine, I cut in one pass, worried that the cutter would sit squarely in the slot, but there were no problems, just lots of small chips. The instructions said that a slot cutter should be used in a table-top router since it was over 1-1/2 inches (actually two inches) in diameter, but it was easy for me to operate in manual mode - hold just a steady hand. . Remember that the slot is a quarter of an inch wide and 9/16 of an inch deep; I notched a Kreg countersunk screw that I accidentally placed too close to the edge, but it didn't damage the bit so it's pretty solid. I am very happy with my purchase. I have no complaints about any of the Freud fragments that I have acquired.
