Use a cutter to cut a groove in the bottom of a barn door for a bottom track. The door is made of pine and this piece is carved as if it weren't there. I have used this Freud bit on oak and pine and it has been very satisfactory. I made two passes in oak so as not to overload the router, but the router ate everything. For pine, I cut in one pass, worried that the cutter would sit squarely in the slot, but there were no problems, just lots of small chips. The instructions said that a slot cutter should be used in a table-top router since it was over 1-1/2 inches (actually two inches) in diameter, but it was easy for me to operate in manual mode
