Review on Camco 42693 Party Light Holder by Lukundo Lim

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Pretty good for "two sizes, one size fits all "

I bought these with the intention of hanging a 6x12 fabric tarp with grommets on a 1953 Airstream canopy. Of course they're marketed as "party holders" so I'd blame them if they weren't perfect for awnings, but I think they would be fine. Airstreams 1953 and later have a 1/4" bore. Two ends with different size inserts. I believe the larger end is just big enough to stay in the 1/4" channel. Here, of course, it is not so much the size of the channel that matters, but the size of the slot, if he wants to stay in it. This is close because I had one of these at the very end of the channel and it came out because the channel was worn out or expanded at the end and the product could leak. But if they're not given an opportunity to go out, they seem to stay fine. I like them because they slide easily into the canal. I'm tall enough to insert and move while standing. I measure the diameter of the big end as close as 7/32" and the diameter of the small end is about 3/16". In my case, 1/32 inch is the difference between staying in and slipping out. The rubber case is 3/32 inch thick between the ends. So if you have a slit that size or larger you can tuck it in, which I did. I'm sure every channel has them. I haven't had enough time to know, but I suspect this probably isn't a product for something that will stay in the sun forever. I could be wrong, but living in central Texas doesn't look like surviving. But for occasional weekend use, it's fine.

Pros
  • Great overall specs
Cons
  • Doubtful
