I needed to add a display to monitor home security cameras. The security camera VCR was in the basement and a monitor was hooked up to it, but I was tired of going downstairs and checking the cameras. (My wife didn't like going there either). So I used this extension to place a monitor in our bedroom where we could check the cameras if we heard anything outside. all rooms so installation was plug and play. The security dashcam has a VGA and HDMI output for monitors, so I have a VGA monitor next to the dashcam and I used this extender for the HDMI output. That works great! There is no lag when moving the cursor with the mouse. CAT 5 between transmitter and receiver (about 100 feet) is a direct path (no ethernet switch) so that may have made a difference.
