Review on Chemical Guys BUF_HEX_Kits_8P Hex Logic Buffing by German Diaz

Revainrating 1 out of 5

I would not recommend buying these pads if you are going to use them at high rpm with powerful tools like rupes.

First of all I want to say that I'm a big fan of the Chemical Guys. I tried their V polish line about 2 years ago and was so pleased I switched to their entire line of products from soap to quick clean, rim and wheel cleaner, pads, glaze, sealant, wax etc. And I've never looked back . I use 2 Random Orbital Polishers: Griot Garage 6' and Rupes 21 Mark II. I bought 2 sets of Chemical Guys hex logic pads, one for each random orbital. Unfortunately I have to report that for the first time I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with a Chemical Guys product: I have been using a set of pads at Griot Garage for 2 years and although they sometimes show normal signs of wear, the pads are still good. On the other hand, the set of pads I use with Rupes (which I'm writing this review for) just isn't that: the scratch on the black pad came off on the first use and the white pad started to fall apart on the second use . At high RPMs (above 4 at rupes) the center of the pads get quite warm after about 30 minutes of use and they start to wobble on the orbital plate making buffing difficult. This wobbling can cause the scratch on the black pad to peel off and the white pad to begin to disintegrate. Rupes is more powerful than Griot Garage. So it seems that hex logic pads can't withstand the power of Rupes while they work fine with Griot Garage. This is a disappointment. Overall, I wouldn't recommend buying these pads if you're going to be using them at high RPM with a tool as powerful as a Rupes 21 Mark II. They just can't take it.
