If you carry everything in the car except the kitchen sink, there is room in the back for the kitchen sink. in my pioneer. But I haven't used it to carry luggage yet. I used it to transport a chest freezer and storage room (separate trips) between buildings more than a dozen miles apart. Securely strapped in, they barely moved and I didn't hear the wind noise from them. My only complaints are 1) when it's flat it's a bit further behind the truck, which I'm happy with, 2) when it's folded I can't open the tailgate, and finally 3) the included reflective tape is pretty much useless. You should buy a pair of trailer lights or better reflective tape. Update: I've used it to haul luggage on a couple of separate 200 mile trips with no issues. One thing to keep in mind. If you use it in winter, you need to wash it off when you're done to remove the salt from it. When I took it on a trip this summer, it was completely covered in salt from a previous trip. All screws were rusty.
