It is as pictured with 4 wires protruding from the sensor which means the housing will not pinch the wires as there is no external insulation. I disassembled the old sensor using a razor to carefully disassemble the case, but still managed to pry it open by disassembling. Older wires actually have a crimp connector on the end that plugs into the block (there are 4 of them). With the help of hemostats I managed to disable them, hoping to reuse all the old wire. I figured I should try reconnecting them before attempting to disassemble the new unit. They didn't want to rewire it very well, so at that point they just decided to leave the new device as is, rather than taking it apart and just splicing the wires. The wires are tiny and difficult to strip, but doable. Use solder joints and heat shrink tubing and electrical tape to complete the job. Everything works, the replacement works perfectly. From what I've read these sensors don't last that long and I'm glad they're selling the $15 part rather than replacing the entire controller for $42.99. It would be nice if they installed sensors with an external connector, so replacing it would just mean unplugging the old one and plugging in the new one. The Inkbird IHC-200 is essential in the grow tent and I have a backup unit in case of a failure. Will likely buy another sensor to have on hand if they decide to stop selling replacement sensors.
