Review on πŸ”§ Superior Performance and Precision: HIDOTOL Cobalt Drill Bit Set by Kyle Wesener

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Large selection of bits, two smaller sizes but too much plastic case

and maybe better than all the hundreds I have had before. But they're new and sharp, that's what they're supposed to do. And that's why I like this set so much. I especially like this set because of the wide variety of bits it offers: it comes with 2 bits each in several of the smallest sizes! Which just makes the most perfect sense in the world. I don't expect it to be uncommon that the smallest parts are always the ones I use the most and are therefore subject to the most wear, stress and strain. And at the same time, they're the smallest, the weakest, so they're the least resilient to that wear and tear, strain, and strain. So with any luck, they'll last long enough to dull relatively quickly before breaking and dying an early death. Of the hundreds of 1/8" and larger bits I had, I still have nearly all, many of them a bit dull but still in use. While nearly all 3/32" and smaller are long dead and buried are. So I almost always need these smallest bits and look for them, although I almost don't need the larger bits, but they do. for a few lives. So I'm really excited about this set where there are at least two of the smallest sizes, yay! My only negative thought about this set is that it comes in an extremely durable plastic case, as if protecting a super delicate and flimsy $1,000 engineering tool instead of $22 hard steel drill bits. It's at least three times bigger and three times harder to work with. It might appeal to the monster truck crowd, but who wants their drills packaged like they'll survive a nuclear blast? You almost certainly won't want to carry this oversized and heavy backpack in your bag or tool box. I'd rather not even keep it in my tool closet. But if it's really important, you can just toss the Beats into another, smaller, lighter container and throw away the original. It's a shame to waste all that extra plastic on the environment. I think it's the details that really matter here and that's what I wanted, so I guess I'll go ahead and rate this 5 stars. Although it's still a shame for too much plastic casing.
