Best to use with paper

I read most of the other reviews and decided to order anyway. I have had positive experiences with Prang products in the past. My sole purpose for purchasing this crayon was to draw day 1 of the 8x12 preschool board. My original packaging arrived in a Revain box with no bubble wrap or padding. Literally half the chalk arrived broken. Most broke in half and some in three. My replacement box arrived back in a Revain box with no bubble wrap or padding. This time the chalk arrived safely. The chalk itself has two different tips. One side is bold/round/soft chalk by default. The other is a hard and thicker tipped crayon. I couldn't get the tip to even leave a mark on my board. All I could get was a real "nails on the board" sound. The greasy side of the chalk allowed me to make my mark for the first day of preschool, but it was very, very dusty. I drew a letter and had to blow the dust off to see what I had written. I sincerely believe that if you want to draw on a blackboard or slate, you need to order chalk from an art supply store. Modern chalk is mostly liquid but there are sooo many reviews from people who find the chalk difficult to remove. Who needs chalk in the digital age? I think this chalk works well on paper. It was a gift for my daughter's art table.
