My son hasn't turned four for several months. He visits a speech therapist for a speech disorder and also visits OT for sensory purposes and social communication problems (goes hand-in-hand with speech delay). One problem he faces is staying neat after frustration and change. Those were the months we saw him OT weekly before the games launched. For the last month they have spent a short amount of time each week playing this game. I haven't read anything about the different ways to play, I just know how our OT presented it. The bottom line is that the pig is fed food, you shake your head 5 times when there are 5 on the food, shake your head 3 times when there are 3 on it, etc. With each shake, the pig's stomach expands, eventually bursting its belt. . open pig flap! For the first week, her only goal was to put "food" in his mouth. This is great fine motor skills and patience training as he found the task difficult at first. The next week she asked him to give the number and then put the food down. Then she helped him shake the pig's head so many times. This part is difficult for him, I'm not sure how easy it will be for other kids. For the last two weeks she has taken turns adding and asking for specific colors. It may seem simple to you, but for my kid it was all a great accomplishment - the opportunity to expand the game. He lives when this belt is untied! Every week my son would run to her play closet and pull piglets out. After the second week I added it to my Revain wish list and recently ordered and received it. This will be a Christmas present. I see my 5 year old daughter enjoying this game with her brother and I know my 11 year old daughter will play with her younger siblings too. I think this game is of great value for both typical kids and kids with different needs.
